On 4 June, at its WWDC– Worldwide Developers Conference 2018 in San Jose, California, Apple announced about some significant updates with the WatchOS 5. The most important feature they are going to introduce is that it comes with a walkie-talkie mode and it lets you connect immediately with your friends and family.
It also allows you to look after your third-party apps using Siri virtual assistant by introducing an app called Shortcuts. It was noted by the company that most of the Apple watch users, used it to track their workout and fitness progress. So, they bring lots of important updates with WatchOS 5 regarding fitness. Here are five new fitness features through which, you can look upon your daily workout progress.
1-With the help of the WatchOS 5, you can easily compete with your friends. Research suggests that it is often better to work out with a partner or even compete against them if you are looking forward to achieving your fitness goals. With this features, you can compete with your friends, and challenge them with weekly competitions.
You can track their progress and compare yourself with them. It also reminds you to get ahead of your competitor by giving coaching notifications for advice and reminders during the week-long period. At the end whoever wins, get an individual medal within the Activity app.
2- The other new fitness feature in the Apple Watch which helps you to remain fit is automatic workout detection. It will automatically sense and starts tracking your workout, the moment you begin any physical activity.
The best thing about it is that, if in case you forgot to start the watch while you start your workout, it will automatically detect it and begin tracking your exercise. It also gives you extra credits for the uncalculated workout. And, if in case your workout is over, and you forgot to stop monitoring, it will automatically detect and ends it by itself.
3- In WatchOS 5, they announced to have 12 new workout modes. These modes will help you to remain more fit and energetic. For example, they added Yoga, as a recognized workout type. Hiking is also added to the list, and it keeps watch over your pace, heart rate, and elevation.
4- You get new credit, while you are running in your workout. For example, if you are running outdoor, the Apple Watch will look after your time and speed. You can also set speed alert in it, and it will notify you to maintain your target. You can also track your steps per minute by checking out your rhythm.
5- Apple decided to launch podcast feature in Apple WatchOS 5. Technically, it is not a fitness related feature, but people usually use podcast while they hike or do other exercises. The progress you made while listening to a podcast gets synced in all your Apple devices. You can get access to this podcast again just by asking Siri.
